| Who We Are: |
| The Tax Clinic provides tax controversy resolution services to low-income taxpayers residing throughout the state of Georgia. The Clinic does not prepare tax returns. It has been operating since 1992 as one of the components of the College's lawyer skills training program. Taxpayers are represented by law students in all phases of controversies with the Internal Revenue Service preparing cases for appeals conferences and appearing at the conferences themselves, preparing offers-in-compromise, filing petitions with the United States Tax Court, negotiating settlements with the Internal Revenue Service, and occasionally appearing before the Tax Court. Driving Directions:
I-75/I-85 Northbound - Exit # 246 (Central Avenue/Fulton Street).
Via Fulton Street – Veer right at the exit to Fulton Street. Turn right on Fulton Street. Turn left at the traffic light onto Capitol Ave./Hank Aaron Blvd. Follow Capitol Ave. After crossing over MLK Jr. Drive, it becomes Piedmont Ave. There is a parking lot on Piedmont Ave. right past the Marta Station; the Clinic is about one block down the street. There is another parking facility one block south of the College of Law.
Via Central Ave. - Veer left at the exit to Central Ave. Continue straight on Central Ave., past Underground Atlanta. The next corner is Decatur Street. You will see a McDonalds to your left. There is public parking available behind McDonald’s, or to the right 3 blocks down. If you turn right on Decatur St., the College of Law is two blocks down on the left hand side, across the Sports Arena.
I-75/I-85 Southbound - Exit # 249A - Courtland Street - is a one-way street which leads to the campus. Make a left on Gilmer St. where you will find several parking facilities. If you do not find parking on Gilmer, make a left on Jesse Hill Jr. Drive, which will bring you to Decatur St. Make a right on Decatur.
I-20 Eastbound - Exit # 56B (Windsor/Spring Street), go straight to the third traffic light. Take a left on Central Avenue which leads to the Georgia State Campus. Follow the directions shown above.
I-20 Westbound - Exit # 58A (Capitol Avenue) and turn right at the light. Stay on Capitol which changes into Piedmont Avenue and leads to the Georgia State Campus.
MARTA - Take East/West Rapid Rail Line to the Georgia State Station. Exit station onto Piedmont Avenue and turn right. |
