| Who We Are: |
The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit's Circuit Public Defender's Officehas been created pursuant to the 2003 Indigent Defense Act enacted by the Georgia General Assembly. On January 1, 2005 this office will assume responsibility for indigent defense in the Superior and Juvenile Courts of Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker Counties. Until that date, indigent defense will continue to be handled by the use of appointed attorneys, as determined by the Superior Court Judges for each county. |

The Office of the Public Defender was created by the Georgia Legislature in 2003. The office reports to the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council. The Office is responsible for providing zealous representation to indigent accused persons. If an individual cannot afford a lawyer in a criminal matter, the court will refer the individual to the Office of the Public Defender. |
