Long-term Care Ombudsman
This project monitors 80 nursing homes and more than 600 personal care homes in the nine-county area surrounding Atlanta. It protects the elderly, disabled, mentally ill and mentally retarded who reside in these long-term facilities, investigating more than two thousand complaints yearly. Its staff is augmented by dozens of volunteers, many of whom have been certified through state training to mount formal investigations.
The Ombudsman Program serves the five Atlanta counties (Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Clayton, Gwinnett), and also serves Cherokee, Douglas, Fayette, Henry and Rockdale Counties.
