Truancy Intervention Project and Kids In Need of Dreams
The Truancy Intervention Project (TIP) is a dropout prevention program initiated by the Atlanta Bar Association in late 1991.  Founded by then Chief Judge of the Fulton County Juvenile Court, Glenda Hatchett, and the Atlanta Bar Leadership, TIP serves children in Atlanta Public and Fulton County Schools (approximately 150,000 students) who are chronically absent from school and as a result, either become involved with the Fulton County Juvenile Court or are referred for early intervention at the school level.

By pairing trained legal professionals who are willing to donate their time and services, with children and their families, TIP strives to decrease absenteeism rates and provide families with the resources and services necessary to ensure good attendance and success in school.  TIP volunteers not only contribute their time to serve as legal counsel in juvenile court proceedings, but also serve as caring advocates and mentors for the child and family.  Serving needy school age children who are at risk of school failure, TIP is now a thriving partnership among the Atlanta Bar, the Fulton County Juvenile Court and Kids in Need of Dreams, Inc (KIND, Inc.)
